I have an 89 Ranger 4x4 my original 5 speed is starting to make some noises. I would like to put the stronger M5od in it. I know it can be done but what do I need to find the trans out of and what else will I need?

Any M5OD from a 2.9L vehicle or a 4.0L vehicle will work. You will need the shifter with it also. I do believe the metal plate between the engine and tranny needs to come from the donor truck. Everything else should work. I've done this swap before.

What 2.9l vehicles had the M5OD?

Ranger's 1990-1992

Would the trans from a 94 ranger 4.0l work?

If I just buy the tans can I use all my stock components? Like the clutch, starter, flywheel, and motor plate?
