Any idea what size injectors are in a 88 2.9 motor?

I swapped mine for the 19lb hour injectors for a mustang..... I gots me excels..... they work great... direct replacement...

don't know what Iirc means though.....

It means If I Remember Correctly. And why would you put the wrong size injectors in?

I have done it since I put in a bigger cam and other mods. Check out the technical library, it lists this as a performance upgrade. :icon_twisted:

It would have never run decent on a MAF computer even. I can't imagine what it would do on a stock computer (besides run rich in all circumstances). I had to tweak the MAS signal to the computer, and even then I ended up slightly rich at idle to have good a ratio at WOT.

FWIW, the 14lbs injectors are sufficient (hp wise) for the engine in stock form. The engine's demand would never exceed the flow rate of the injectors.

Pete, it certainly sounds like a reasonable swap in your case. I'm a little more curious about the previous poster.

they were on sale

But they're the wrong size. As in, the computer is constantly trying to adjust the fuel trim to keep things in range. It's also forced to cut pulsewidth at idle to the point that you end up with increased emissions, potential weird idle issues, etc.

yeeeeaaaah... I know... I needed new injectors and those were the only ones I could afford.

oddly enough I'm getting better fuel economy...

I put new Accel injectors in, 14 size I believe, and they crank! But I can check as still have the box.
