I seam to keep blowing out my time'n chain, cam barings are poor, & a rist pin is going out. I do not won't to swap in a 4.0. I have new heads & a ported intake for my 2.9 can I put them on a 4.0 block?

They definitely won't work, the 2.9L heads and intake onto a 4.0L.

I am not sure what that would be solving though; I think there is a bit of information we're missing here. Is the goal to pull it out and repair the issues with it now, instead of swapping another 4.0L in?

I think he's afraid of the wiring.

Timing chains on a 2.9 are generally good for the life of the engine
(something else always breaks or wears out first)

If you've done it more than once your engine is probably possessed.

As for 2.9 heads and intake on a 4.0 block? No.

The 4.0 compared to a 2.9 has block decks that are 80mm higher
to allow room for the 4.0's longer stroke so the engine requires a
wider lower intake that and the heads on a 4.0 are enormously
better vis-a-vie reliability.
