I got a set of pace setter headers for my 2.9 for free from a buddy. There in good shape and have the y pipe and everything. Is it worth it to put them in? I know pace setter isnt the best company out there.

I don't have any issues right now with the factory manifolds. I just want some input on them if anyone has them. I sorta go by the if it aint broke dont fix it way of thinking but I got them for free so I figured why not. But I dont want to make new problems.

IMO It's not worth it unless you also upgrade the intake system, and cam. But I am biased as I am looking for a set for my low buck race truck.

i put them on my 2.9 when i had the engine out to replace the gaskets and clean it up. they were cheaper than buying factory replacements and a new y-pipe from the parts stores. that's the only reason i used them.

I wouldn't do it if your factory Y Pipe and manifolds are still OK. The only reason I say that is because it would not be worth the hassle of dealing with those old frozen bolts in the manifold.

But if they're in shoddy shape, Might as well go for it! Just use a lot of heat.

another good point. i had the heads off my 2.9 when i did it. broke 5 or 6 bolts off in the heads getting the factory manifolds out. had to drill them out and retap them. good thing i was unemployed at the time cause it took forever! much easier to do on the work bench than in the engine bay

Thanks for the input guys. Maybe Ill just throw them up on craigslist. They dont seem to be worth the hassle.

do you have the y-pipe still? i may be interested in picking it up from you

I still have everything. Im still teetering on the edge on whether or not im gonna put them on. If i dont decide to i will shoot you a pm.
