2.9 head help

I have been told that I need to use NEW head bolts when doing the heads. I can`t find anything here to that effect. Can someone help me? Do I or don`t I need new ones...

Yes, you will need new head bolts. They stretch and cannot be reused, not unless you want to do it again later .

MOST modern engines use TTY bolts, which must be replaced. You get a much more predictable clamping force that way (along with angular torque specs). Try to reuse them, and they behave differently. They will certainly not give you the same clamping force, and can break in the block.

DO NOT attempt to retorque them. In a very real way, that is reuse.

There are a few counterexamples, but the old days of just using standard bolts are over. LONG over.

2.9 v6 replacement head bolts are available at Rockauto dot com, advance auto, napa, autozone, insert auto parts store here....

Yeah, they are that common. The store might have to order them in? But our local advance (aka partsamerica dot com) had them in stock.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RE-USE THESE BOLTS!! Unless you really want to do a complete upper gasket set again....
