2.9 engine miss?

You shouldn`t need to clear the codes to test it if it works you should be good un less u want to tacle that pesky 33 oh yea use somethread tape or locktite when torquing the sensor in the block. I think they should say if it is running good and not pinging ignore it code 33

the only way to test it is at a high rpm the computer cant do that it sends a millivolt to the computer telling it to retard the timing not sure how the TFI controls the timing either

I will clean it before replacing it. I can probably call ford and get the specs.

retested codes today. Warmed it up FULLY and proceeded with KOEO and KOER tests. NO codes. Except for the 25 which is always there. Truck still seems sluggish withan under-load miss occasionally. Seems to get worse the longer I drive it. Almost like it takes awhile for it to heat up and begin to malfunction but it doesn't blow codes. I am going to put a new coil on it tonight and will change cats and muffler when it begins to dry out.

I suppose you can check the wires going to the computer from the knock sensor yellow/red goes to pin 23 and the blk/wht goes to all the sensors and to pin 46 and pin 3 thru the power steering pressure switch since it is the only code it seems to me it must be either the knock sensor the yellow/red wire or the computer to test disconnect the battery the computer and the knock sensor check for continuity both ends of the yellow/red wire ground pin 23 on computer connector to the frame then you can test the wire at the sensor connector. I`m pretty sure you have to lose that code but I hope it is as easy as the coil or ignition module well a good module gets kinna spendy but with your supply of used parts its not likely two parts have the same faults have you tried switching computers you said you had another one right

I have a 3 TFI's one of which is brand new, the other two are testing as good. I do have another computer, I have swapped them already, no change. I do still need to clean/replace the knock sensor, just haven't had the chance yet.

I really don't think it is the coil, but since mine is old I am just going to replace it anyway.

I thought you changed it already is your engine all oily dirty mine was covered in dirty oil use some carb or brake cleaner first then blast it with air if you have it it was kinna hard to get to mine but just cleaning it cleared the code too bad you just can`t duraspark

I had swapped the original coil with one of my "stock." Still an old coil and just thought I would be better off with a new coil in the long run.

If it stays dry tomorrow I will reach down there with a rag soaked in brake cleaner and see what I can do about cleaning the knock sensor. Or just clean the one I have out real well and change it.

Dumb question here. Would you please explain the duraspark conversion to me? What is the big advantage of doing so?

The engine is not all that dirty. It was completely out of the truck and cleaned not that long ago.
