i was wondering if anyone has bought one of them cat back exhaust kits from lmc truck that split into dual. If so what is it 2.5 or 3in pipe that they are using.

I havent seen anyone who sells exhaust kits for the 2.9L, trust me ive been looking, and i might just get a dual system custom made by an exhaust shop

Also if you got a y-pipe from an 86, the pipes go into a splitter as 2 pipes, instead of your 89 which the y-pipes pipes "butt weld" into each other. Im considering removing my collector, so that way i can run true duals from the y-pipe back. (Dont worry moderators...I'm gonna be running with a Cat shes legal lol :)

what do you do with your single oxygen sensor when you're running true duals?

on mine, the o2 sensor is on a small pipe welded inbetween the 2 pipes, and theres about a foot of each pipe after that, so, the o2 sensor doesnt have to be moved, and it still reads/runs fine :) but this is only true for 86-87 rangers, since in 88 they started putting the o2 sensor farther back. drilled into both pipes( there butt welded)

The OP is talking about this exhaust, which is cat back, so the o2 sesnsor stays where it is and is not effected. And no, I haven't ever used one, puty72

thats a set of straights, its going to be loud and a huge loss of torque. plus w/ 3 1/2 inch tips its going to sound wierd, i wouldnt go above 3 inches on tips w/ a v6. i dont know what "resonator tips" are but they look like plain expansion tips to me. ive never mounted that exhaust/seen mounted on a trk b4, but i have had dual straights similar to that on my trk (3.0) made of 2 1/4 pipe w/ 3 inch tips. lost bottom end wouldnt pull below 2500 rpm, was deafening my coworker over his harley w/ straights. i did see a better horse increase after 3k rpm, and a lil better mileage but nothing to boast about. the 125 dollar system wasnt worth the 135 dollar noise ticket to say the least i only kept it on for about 3 months. setting off car alarms in the walmart parking lot and rattling local store windows was fun tho...

the resonated tips are like glass pack tips the are corragated on the inside to act as a muffler. sounds like crap imho. but to each his own. i much rather have the dynomax system. just go to advance auto parts to order. its a cat back with 2 1/2 pipes.

ive seen the dynomax system sweet and tuned just a hair louder than stock. is that a single system only or do they offer duals i cant remember?

what state are you in harley? i dont know about everywhere else but la says exit the vehicle over the rear axle. stacks arent legal here. now for a mudtrk or something that isnt on the road, i say fk it open headers w/ 2 purple hornies behind the front tires.

the engine is not exactly designed to have true duals... you need a cross over in there for proper back pressure otherwise it'll run like crap.

yea i agree, u lose bottom end torque if you dont have enough back pressure
