My 2.8 has the 5-speed tranny but the only thing I dont know is if it will bolt up to the 2.9. Thanks

Yes it will, the 2.8L, 2.9L and 4.0L share the same bolt pattern for the transmission, all you have to do is change over the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate from the engine the tranny was mated to (in this case your 2.8L).
I have a question, why not just do the 4.0L swap? (unless you already have a 2.9L)

Actually the 1985 2.8 flywheel is the same flywheel as the '86-92 2.9 flywheel.
