2.8 liter TBI swap

Paint it??? Thats next years job. The paint on the cab is no longer avalible in that color. And paint it which color? The color of the bed, the cab or the hood? LOL. The title says gray so thats the color it will be but dont know what shade yet.

It does follow the theme of my truck. My truck is the Heinz 57 truck. Has parts for countless other trucks on it, (mabey 57 other trucks...whos counting...yet).

More to come soon!!!
i know i was sayin paint it a color not already on the truck! haha cause if its gettin painted might as well try to set the record for most colorful...

It is a color thats not on the truck. The new finder is dark blue.

Well went out and did took some measurements. From the eye to eye on my ranger tie rods it is 48 inches-ish. The D30 is 51-52.5 inches eye to eye, it was hard to keep the knuckles pointing strait.

So MABEY I can get my Ranger linkage to work the way it is, if not, somebody please tell me other wise if they have tried to do this and failed on the same type of SAS. I also dont know , haven't looked it up yet, if the Ranger tie rods ends will fit into the D30 knuckles. If so please tell how it can work and how you did it, even if I have to make a hybrid of the two some how, which ever is cheapest.

More to come soon!!!

More to add here. Got the gas pedal so it is functional again.

Ya thats a homemade cable clamp with silicone on it because I couldn't find the lock tight.

Oh ya forgot to mention, the passenger door was once red on the outside. So thats 5 differnt colors and 5 differnt trucks on it so far when it comes to body parts.

nice basketball. btw why dont you fab up a new steering linkage? ive read of others using 1-1/4" 120 wall tube with 1"120wall tube on the inside. and i dunno about the tie-rods... maaybe just weld the original shaft to the new fabbed link and adjust tie rod as necessarry. same with other end...

The basketball is my little bros. We play basketball every now and then. Hes only 10 so got to find something to do with the hoop on the garage. Throw him in it, just kidding.

As for fabbing, I dont trust my skills yet. Probably have my bro-in-law help me out with the welding, he's a diesel mechanic and welder. I'm not the best welder, and it would be cheaper to either use the original or get cherokee. The linkage will probably be the hardest part to figure out for me. As for driveshafts the front no problem, I think, and the rear will take some home work to figure out, due to how a D35 and 7.5 pinions hook up, totally different.

As for my front leaf springs I'm going to be using, I'm told that they may have come off an F-150 rear end.

I'm trying to find stuff to do but until I get the welder back all I can do is little things, so annoying. But all the little things make the big things work.

More to come soon!!

as 4 tha rear driveshaft get the original driveshaft yoke pressed out of the tube, and have a custom one set up. its not too bad around here it can be gotten for around 100 bucks or less..

I might be able to have them weld a Jeep yoke to the Ranger shaft. Told that that costs about 50 bucks or so to do that kind of mod.

Of course I have a farm store that has a huge selection of driveshaft stuff that I might be able to use. If that stuff there can be used on a heavy duty tractor then it should be fine on my Ranger. We shall see when the time comes.

i think you might not wanna use agriculture stuff, because strength may not be an issue but i dont think theyre as balanced as vehicle driveshafts, meaning WOBBBBBBLE

Ya you do make a good point. Might not go that direction.

holy frick your on here often. almost as often as me! and ya just fork out the 50 bux for the shaft. sounds like ime gonna end up spendin more than i want to get a shaft made. which is gay. i think ill get the body safety done first. then ill get wheels on it, brakes, new steering column, new triangle window thinger, then a driveshaft. frick i hate spending money. wish it could be on upgrades instead of repairs.

Do the body safty first it would be the best choice of action.

Ya at this time of night most people are on so i'm on for easily 2 hours reading stuff and looking at other SAS people have done. But i'm on ever two hours during the day until I get the welder back so that I can do more work on my truck.

All I can say is the ranger station is a great place to be.

As for my SAS, I found out that I need to get the Cherokee steering linkage. I just need to find out if an 83 through 95 steering box is the same so that I can hook up the box to the linkage.

Whats left to get:
Shackles
Spring perches
Shock mounts
Steering linkage
Driveshaft mod.
Brake lines

But after I do that I need to put the rear one on because my D30 and D35 are 4.56 and my D28 and 7.5 are 3.73.

make your own perches, shock mounts and shackles... and donate your driveshaft to a worthy cause... haha

One problem....my truck isn't extened cab. But no I need it.
