Im in the process today of doing a dura spark conversion on my 85 2.8. I will be removing the cat, and would like to know how to block off the lines on the exhaust manifolds.

Cat removal is not part of the Duraspark conversion and is a Federal offense.

Discussion of removing the cats is also against forum rules.

Ok, that's different than "I am taking it out".

If you are ditching the air pump (that's what it sounds like) just fold them over with some pliers and tuck them out of the way.

You'd have to remove what's left of the pipe and take it to a store that carries plugs, pipe plugs might work. Or a short bolt that is the right thread. We have a shop that carries the oddest nuts and bolts around.

Of course you can also cut the pipe off and leave a little left....crimp it with vice grips and seal with manifold sealer

What if I want to remove them from the manifolds, is there a plug or something?

Pipe plugs are one option. The thing I see a lot with cars that had EGR where the tube or valve rotted away and a replacement was no longer available, they will cut it off, bend and crimp it like I said, and then braze the end shut with a torch to keep it from leaking.

It looks like my manifold have a bolt that holds the line, the line has a bracket attached to it and the bolt hold the line in the manifold

Pics would be helpful. The 2.8 was ditched before I was even born, so I am not super familiar with them.

When i had my 2.8 and did the duraspark conversion, i just cut the lines, crimped and folded them over a few times, never leaked once.

That tube is to allow air to be pumped into the exhaust as part of the pollution control.
It has an 'anti-backfire' valve on it that allows air to go in, but not out - if it is still working. If the valve is still functioning just leave it; otherwise just crimp it at any convenient place.

The check valves will also make alot of noise as a venturi effect you would need to cap it somehow or just remove the check valve crimp it and braze it shut. If you go to remove them from the heads and a bolt breaks you have to pull the head/s to block them off?
