2.8 carb

Best, most bang for your buck, or most affordable/reliable?

Best bang out of a 2.8L fuel delivery system is to go TBI.

Put a 2bbl: adapter to a 4 bbl-and run a 390 holley runs great

I'm not sure to availability in USA

Weber DGAS 38 was nice upgrade.

And Weber DFAV 40 (out of production very long time ago) was best bolt on upgrade for colgone v6

If I ever get ambitious enough I am going to run a non-feedback Motorcraft 2150 with 1.08 venturis on my 2.8. I actually got it on a '78 302 (and people wonder why they only made 140hp) And no, it won't be in an RBV either. :icon_twisted:

I ran an older motorcraft 2100 on mine, well when it ran lol.

Hey 85, what are you doing with your 2.8?

I tried a 2100 but it was too big, it would kind of run away a little bit when you let off on the gas.

I have access to an old Allis-Chalmers WD tractor carcass that doesn't have an engine. I think it would be fun to stick the 2.8 in it, put all my wheelie bars and weight brackets on it from my later WD-45 that I used to tractor pull and a set of 16.9-26 combine tires and just see what a sick 2.8 can do. First stop will be the dyno. :icon_thumby:

My Ranger has been occupying to time and money though, and truth be told I would rather put it towards that than a Frankentractor. :icon_twisted:

Frankentractor, i love it. The 2100 i had had 1.08 venturi i think running #50 jets, it seemed to work ok for me.

I was wondering if you weren't using it for anything and it wasn't in horrible condition, mine just randomly stopped working and i am looking into getting another one to shove in the truck so i can get i moving.

Mine was bigger than that, maybe 1.28 or something like that?

The engine is basically shot, it hit even on all 6 and had good oil pressure but had a ton of blowby. I was getting smoke around the hood from the oil being pumped out the dipstick. I think with a breather tube it would be fine off road.

Motorcraft 2150 from a late 70s Mustang or Pinto V6 (to ensure getting a 1.08 venturi). I have a 2150 on an '84 2.8 and it runs ok for being a 1.21 venturi but I wish I would have been able to find a 1.08 venturi carb instead.

I've read of non-Ford guys putting these carbs on their Jeeps, Scouts, whathaveyou because of their decent off road performance and low price tag. You can get a reman for around $200 (Rockauto.com).

From what I have gathered about people that went down that road it would probably be about as easy if not easier to just swap in a later EFI engine than get a bunch of 20+ year old parts to do things that they were never intended to do.
