2.8 bogs and won't go over 58 MPH

those ones have the adjusinator dealios.....sometimes people get a little screwy with them. if the covers never been off and its quiet...he probably overheated the balls off of it...run it out of water or oil....... and they wont grow back on there own...

Well..........

I Went to check the distributor and the bolt did not feel very snug at all. I got it running, turned the distributor counterclockwise and it smoothed up. Starts right up and just had it going down the road over 70 MPH.

I had suspected timing, but didn't see how the timing could have changed on its own, but I'm thinking that the bolt was loose enough that the distributor turned.

Part of me feelings like an idiot for going through so much trouble trying to figure it out. The other part of me is very relieved.

Now I just have to figure out how to tighten the steering.

Were you able to get the distributor bolt tightened down properly after adjusting?

It's the little things that get you every time...

I assumed you did not want to dick around pulling the dizzy .... And taking a chance of dropping the drive rod ECT....but they do get slip and wear issues...and it's easier then pulling valve covers.

But I also assumed you checked the timing with the cap and rotor install.

Slipped timing.....yup....I can take that over the alternatives. Any time.

Good deal.

I was actually going to remove the bolt to pull the dizzy, but when I realized it didn't take much to loosen it, I decided to skip that and see if it had moved.
