I'm only a little bit helpful, as I did a V8 swap in a 1993 Mazda B2200 - this is before the B-series and Rangers were the same. The same basic principles apply, though. I did an EFI setup with a megasquirt stand-alone DIY engine management setup (I actually soldered all the components onto the board, ran all the wiring, setup the megasquirt with a laptop and tuned the engine with it.)
There's quite a few articles out there on V8 swaps in rangers - probably more than there are about the older Mazda Bseries trucks.
