Have a 98 2.5L Auto w/ 118K showing on it. Truck has been running fine, recent plugs/wires, general maintenance. Just recently it started to develop a miss at idle....idling rough, but cleaned up and ran fine once you get it off idle. ....Now for the big problem. Tonight on the commute home was driving @ 75mph on interstate, going up a steep incline/hill developed a sudden spark knock that progressively got worse. Truck lost power and started running extremely rough. Tried to limp it home, died several times at a stop and was difficult to get started and ran horrible. Ended up dragging it home with the tow strap and one of my other vehicles. Truck will not run at all, turns over extremely slow and difficult. Thinking that the thing jumped time and bent the valves..............sure what it acts like having experienced this years ago from my high school/college days with a 2.3L Ford. What are the possibilities that I lost the crank and/or cam position sensor(s) and that it what is keeping it from firing/running? Attempted to pull the fault codes from the computer and in my haste inadvertently cleared the codes before I could read them.....oops! Thinking it's time to put the thing on TDC and check where the cam position, which should be a tell/tell sign if it's jumped time.................As much as I hate it, looks like the head is coming off. Anyone with more recent experience out there that can weigh in...............Would appreciate the help. Thanks

You have a non-interferance engine.what shape is the tming belt in? Fire it up and see if you can get a pending code? DX then replace

Junping time and bad PCM are the exception not the rule As a start Clean the TB, IACV and MAF. Look at the coilpacks for cracks. Press the shrader valve in and see if you have fuel pressure. Look for cracks or disconnected vacuum lines.
