ok guys my 2000 2.5 5 speed is having an idle issue for about 5 to 10 minutes or so after it is started in the mornings or when parked for a long enough period of time for it to cool off.

Here's the issue:
When i start it, if i don't give it gas it will idle very low, rough, and stall sometimes. From what i've noticed a/c is not a factor on or off. When driving as long as it does not idle, it runs fine no stumbles, misses, etc. When revving from idle there's a slight hesitation but nowhere else in the revving range.

I have yet to have time/ money to check the IAC, but i unplugged the MAF while the truck was idling rough and it died. I also unplugged the IAC while running but nothing happened with the idle.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Really need to get my baby fixed

If you unplugged the IACV and nothing changed with the idle, that's a good place to start looking. You can take it off and clean it quite easily.

Mine does something similar, but its the worst when dropping back down to idle from higher RPMs... I've checked everything and replaced a few things with no luck. I had it the shop and they determined the IACV and TPS are not getting proper input from the computer, output is fine...

it takes about 15 minutes to remove the IAC and clean it and virtually no money ...........I can't really think of an easier fix on any car.......electrical cleaner is best but if you don't have that try throttle body cleaner etc,............if the cleaning does not take care of it they cost about $30-$50 on rockauto..................see if you can pickup a new gasket from a dealership for $3...........you also want to clean the TB with throttle body cleaner if you can......

ok thanks guys i'm at school right now but i'm going to stop on my way home and get some cleaner to clean the IAC should i also take off the battery cable to clear the computer and then let the truck relearn it's idle or would that just be somewhat of a waste?

pull your air cleaner box off and see how bad the air filter is.........if it is dirty replace it........if you can afford it buy a can of throttle body cleaner, clean the IACV, TB and pcv valve with it........also buy a can of crc MAF cleaner.........usually the MAF is held on with blind torx 20 screws.....sometimes you can remove them with pliers..........clean the MAF.....if you have a separate air temp sensor clean that also with the MAF cleaner......then as you mentioned pull the neg cable for 30 minutes or better yet pull the cable before you start then just hook it up when you finish.........you need to keep up with the maintenance .......follow the directions on the maf can........you want to clean the MAF when it is cool and let it dry.......do not touch the MAF wire with anything but the spray....

Ok so the problem is fixed for now cleaned MAF, IACV, and Air temp sensor now she idles like a dream... Thanks for all the help guys.:headbang:
