Hello everybody. I have a 99 ranger 2wd with a 2.5 that has about 260,000k on it. It has a new head, good compression, no leaks from the main seals, (hoping that means the mains are still tight) but I can get the rods to flutter when there's no load on them.

I am pulling the transmission to replace the clutch and figured that would be the time to raise the engine enough to pull the pan and replace the rod bearings. When I say raise the engine, I'm trying to do this without completely disconnecting everything. Is this doable, it looks like it would work but I've gone down these roads before to be slapped in the face.

If anybody has any input it would be appreciated.

10W-30 and 89 octane should do the trick. :icon_thumby:

So I'm guessing an oil change and a new tank of gas is like a rebuild in your neck of the woods.
