I just got a late model 2.3L header from a 96 Ranger. I got the header from a junk yard but it did not come with bolts. There are spacers on the mounting holes that are about 1.5" long. My concern is, were the fasteners actually studs or just plan bolts ?

Does anyone have a source for these bolts ? I've searched and searched the internet and have even called the Ford dealership (they're discontinued).
I really need a set.
I'm willing to purchase from a forum member if you can help.
Thanks

They are bolts...I got one from a 93 Mazda 2300 but the bolts I bought from a Ford dealership. I was able to use some from the truck I got the header from but I wanted as many new ones as I could afford.

Don't have the part number handy and I got mine about 6 years ago...IIRC they were about $8 each...it was a bit pricey, but they are still as good as new...just tightened them up tjhe other day too...

Contact a dealership if you can't find good ones in the JY...

I have those bolts if you want them since I switched to turbo I had new bolts for the turbo manifold. PM me if you're interested.

they should just be 8mm (maybe 10mm, don't remember) bolts, figure out a length you need and go to your local bolt house (Fastenal or a more local based shop, local shops will do smaller quantities better) and get some header bolts of the right length. I say header bolt because they usually have a smaller drive than a standard bolt, a normal 8mm bolt will have a 13mm head but a header bolt might have a 10mm head, etc.

Yeah, they are 10 or 11 mm heads...and course thread...most automotive bolts are course thread from what I've found...can't remember if the original bolts were the same length...they might work, but mine were in rough shape due to the PO torquing them...

You can take that little spacer off the header, only has two spot welds on it and get a metric bolt that takes a allen head wrench or as Scott said,go to the local hardware store and just get some metric bolts.Almost all the hardware stores carry metric now,Tractor Supply,Lowes, home Depot any bike store.
