Been having some issues with my 1994 Ranger 2.3L. Bought the truck late October with 138,000 miles. The truck ran great, no problems. In early January the truck ran really rough and the check engine light came on. I took it in to Ford and they did a diagnostics on it. They came up with possibly needing to service the fuel system and changing out the coil packs, plug wires and plugs. The fuel system checked out good so no service was required, so they went ahead and changed out the coil packs, plug wires and plugs. I got it back and it ran great... for about a week. The check engine light came back on but the truck ran fine other than running a little bit rough, and i do mean little. It starts right up every time and it never stalls or feels like its gonna stall.
My question is, what should I look at next? When the truck was at Ford they did a complete inspection and everything check out good. Any help would be great as I have to smog my truck in California. My understanding is that they will automaticlly fail the smog inspection with it on.
