ok question folks i have a 2.3l engine in my 93 2wd can I use the 10" clutch for the 4.0l with it or am i stuck?

Thanks and glad to be here,

I take it no one know the awnser to my question?

Some people are busy

Some people have been sedated (like me I screwed up my back)

And others certainly don't know.

In this case the clutch to use is either a Centerforce II (NOT their "dual friction")
clutch, these work real well on a 2.9 engine, but in point of fact ANY clutch that
fits a 2.3 also fits a 2.9 or a 3.0 (and Vice-Versa)

So you have that whole selection of clutches to work with...

I've never looked it up but I seem to recall that the 1995-up 3.0 uses
a slightly larger disc (9-1/4 Vs the 8-7/8") than most other "small" clutches.

Personally I had the idea of making a composite flywheel to hang a 4.0 clutch
onto a 2.3 engine. This would have involved modifying BOTH flywheels then
doweling and bolting them together. there was more to it, but... it's moot!

Why is it moot? because the 4.0 flywheel is nearly an inch too big to fit
inside the 2.3 bolt pattern.

So your only option is an aftermarket clutch.

And as mentioned above I personally recommend the Centerforce-II

thanks that is what i wanted to find out

Thats a very heavy tranny & being that the trans mounting bolts are attached to the aluminum oil pan I would say that the tranny would be to much weight for the oil pan to handle ,plus dont even know if there is a bell housing that will adapt from trans to 4 cyl. & also why would you want to install a granny low tranny into a 2wd Ranger & also elimate having a 5th gear?

well i was looking at if tor towing my boat basicly pulling up ramps and steep inclines but i stated looking at the ratios and according to the specs my first gear has a lower 1st gear than it does so i just guess i will go easy on the clutch. also i didn't know that the bolts went into the oil pan

Thanks,
yonu
