Hi. I have a 94 ranger w/ 2.3l. the motor will not run for very long. I thought it was moisture in the tank or the fuel filter. so i put fuel treatment in and checked the filter. the filter was fine. i noticed the motor was lifting on the drivers side to much and then it would make a pooping sound. what i am wondering is if the motor mount was broken and causing to much movement could it cause the engine to shut off?

It could if it is affecting the fuel line or spark...but I'd get the mount fixed either way...it's not that hard to replace the mounts...in most cases...

If that doesn't clear up the problem with shutting off, there are a few other things you can check...like fuel pressure, vacuum lines, and air draw (change the air filter)...
