hi i have been woundering if its posable to make a transmission from a ranger with a 2.9l v6 work with a 2.3l 4cyl engine , the reason for asking is i have a good 5 speed transmission behind a 2.9l and i would like to use a 2.3l 4cyl with it , thanks for any info

Bell housing and bolt patterns are different between the 4cyl and the 6cyl. Only possible with adapter plate.

You can do it with the FM-145 tranny by swapping bellhousings.

thanks guys for all the info , i have the mazda m50d trus no bellhousing, not the mitsubishi fm-145 , i was mainly interested in seeing if theres any way to drill out certian holes or make other mods to make it fit , what i wiil probably do is get a 2wd 4cyl transmission and swap the 4x4 output shaft and tail housing to the 4cyl transmission , by the way is it hard to tare down and put back together a mazda m50d 5 speed , i will for surely get a manual too , thanks
