I have a 1987 ford ranger 2.3L that i am rebuilding and I am wanting to put a 2.5L crankshaft in it. I was wondering if this is possible and if there would be any clearance issues if doing so. Thanks.

I was looking into the same thing and was told it would take too much work...but then I was searching on something else one day and saw some bearing inserts that fit over the smaller crank to fill the gap...would/should allow the smaller crank to be put into a larger journal...but not sure if I had the information right.

There is information on other forums about this...search on 2.5 crank in 2.3...I haven't seen the inserts mentioned on TRS so maybe it isn't something that can be done...

It's a insert, but you also have to get a set of small main bearings. You also need the 2.5 rods, and pistons. Other than that no clearance issues.

Thanks you all just told me what i needed to know!
