ok well. i have a 1995 b2300 same thing as a ford ranger... a bought a 1987 thunderbird motor complete with every thing. i put the pistons, turbo head, and intake.on to my motor. everything pluged in. i cant get it to run right. :dunno: i have the stock ecm running it but im not runing high boost.i have to have it floored for it to start. and it pops and breaks up and pretty much all the time, one time it ran ok and i drove it a little. i need help. my truck has been down for 2 months

did you swap over the VAM?

probably not goin to run right with that stock ECM. convert over to the turbocoupe ECM.

i hear that it will work with stock just cant run high boost... what a vam? thanks

i hear that it will work with stock ecm just cant run high boost... like 7 psi
what a vam? thanks

Vane Air Meter, use the TC's computer.

where is the vane air meter? i need to keep my same wiring harness for the motor... could i change the chip or just the ecm?

can i switch chips from 87 ecm to my ranger ecm ? i would just switch ecms but i am running the
coil pack

If you don't know what the VAM is, that's probably what one of your main problems is. VAM is Vane Air Meter, it's an early version of a MAF. You need to use the VAM, with the matching ECM from the turbo coupe. Do some searching, the topic on how to rewire to use it has been covered time and time again.

Those 14lb injectors wont give you enough fuel for 7 psi.

You need to either tune your ECM for bigger injectors and a bigger MAF, or you need to swap to the earlier ECM.

The ranger ECM is more capable with the right tune.

i just put my stock injectors in. there red top. and runs pretty good now but cant run any boost. would it run better if i had the brown tops in with a higher psi fuel pump? i wish i could run the tc ecm so i could use the vam meter easyer. and im runing the stock fuel pump im my ranger. should i run a tc fuel pump. i have the wiring from the tc but i dont wanna start cutting wires because it wont plug in, any ideas would help thanks

i have the stock fuel pump in my ranger do i need a tc pump with the brown top injectors?

why didnt you just swap in the entire motor/ wiring harness/ computer? seems like swapping all those internals around is a lot more work than just doing a completer motor swap. Also what are you doing for the turbo's oil return line? The turbo block is allready setup to run the return line. just seems like you're doing this the hard way.

it is the hard way. but i wanted every thing in my dash to work i didnt want to wire in everything in.and the return line runs in to oil pan. it was pretty easy for the most part. but i cant seem to get any help on here.
