Hello new member here,
I recently purchased a 92 ranger with a 2.3/ 5 speed, and it had a miss when i picked it up I was hoping it would be something simple but it has a burnt piston.. So I am going to use parts from a turbo coupe motor i have and rebuild my motor using the third head. But I'm having a hard time finding all the info i need about using the turbo coupe computer with the trucks existing wiring... Could some of you poing me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Welcome. I’m going to move your post down to the forced induction sub forum, this way you’ll get quicker responses.

Here ya go OP a step by step instruction on the swap and how to properly mod.https://www.stinger-performance.com/turboswaphowto.html

Basically you need a OBD1 ecu and a Large vane(Mass Airflow Sensor)
Hope this helps.

For wiring diagrams go HERE, just rearrange the wires that need moved from the original harness and add the VAM and knock sensor and whatnot. Just note that the fuel pump relay wire trigger that goes back to the original Ranger ECM goes to the same pin as the octane switch telling the computer that you have premium all the time... learned that one the hard way :)

Other than wiring stuff, it's a pretty straight forward swap, most of the stock parts will work just fine, I even utilized the stock air filter box on my Ranger. If it didn't leak so dang much oil it would be a pretty clean install :)

EDIT: the wiring diagram in that link says through '91, they're all the same til mid '93 when the DPFE sensor was added, for the '90 model year they switched to MAF from speed density so the MAP sensor disappeared and the MAF went in... all the same pinout other than the MAP and MAF, the MAP and boost pressure sensor are the same wires and connector for what it matters...
