I just want to know how to adjust my fuel pump, and how adjust boost on my 2.3 turbo diesel mitsubishi engine, in my magnific 1986 ranger :icon_hornsup:

im watching this thread!
100hp-125hp would be a nice goal!

is the 4d55 2.3 turbo a waste gated or non waste gated turbo system.....and how much boost does it run stock?

i would assume more boost,air....fuel....bigger exhaust would bring this thing to life.
not sure how much more psi the stock block can handle though.

if it is a stock turbo diesel you prolly dont have to worry about it all that much.....you can bump it up 10-15psi np and it will hold together.

it's a oem waste gated turbo the 4d55 engine, for the boost pression i have to bought a boost controler??? the rod of the wastegate was adjustable son i dont know if i have to adjuste or not this......

yeah i just researched it

TD04 wastegated turbo

Stock it makes 13 psi of boost. Heavily modified I have seen the these little engines reliably make 250 hp and 400 ft lbs at 30 psi of boost. But you're talking about major mods. Even in stock form these little engines should be extremely zippie and move the truck comfortably.

You can make multiple adjustments to these pumps, they are very similar to the pumps used on the first gen Cummins trucks. Common adjustments are turning up the fuel screw, adjusting the star wheel and adding a lift pump. More extreme modifications would be changing the size of the plunger to a 12mm plunger. The most important thing is to get your pump rebuilt. Every 4D55 engine I have ever come across needs to have the injection pump and turbocharger rebuilt.
