i have a 87 ranger 5 speed 2wd with a 2.3 i want to put a 302 in it what year trans should i look for and what drive shaft should i get :icon_confused:

If yu want to do a swap the easiest way to do it. it's to get a complete car with a 5.0L. Forthe trans any transmisson from a 5.0L from the same era will do the job. And for th drive shaft you will need ones that fits your transmission and the ones under your truck. And you will have to go to a good drive shaft shop to make one fro the two:icon_welder:

so if i get a motor from a lets say a 95 mustang i should get a tran from that year or the same year of my truck or from a f150

Yes any trasmission of a 5.L of the +/- same year will do the jub sure. Other can too but between year 5.0L have some minor change like ring gear.

But it's easier to have the engine, the transmission, the wiring, and the CPU from the same car. If you have an electronic transmission, it's probably controlled by the ECU.

how is your build on the 83 going are you using a carb or EFI
