2.3 to 4.0 conversion

i have a 1989 ranger with a 2.3 (dual plug motor) and i want to put a 4.0 out of an 1991-2 explorer in it but will the under hood wiring harness's interchange from the big round plug on the firewall out. any info could help thanks

IF you use the engine management harness from a 1991 Explorer and the on engine harness to match you probably won't have to disturb the engine "Bay" (harness)

Though more properly what people call the "engine bay harness" (across the firewall)
Or across the radiator support is more properly called the "power distribution harness"
as it includes the underhood fuse box.

You MAY need to move a few wires at the round bulkhead connector
(the round drivers side connector) but it's as simple an engine swap
as you are likely to find as far as the electrical changes go..
