i have a 1986 ford ranger with the 2.3 i got a supercharger off a super coupe that i want to put on it. i've seen on guy on here has done it. http://www.members.shaw.ca/rabello/p16.htm

i read as much as i could but why cant the throttle body stay in the stock location he has his before the supercharger but why not after? my turbo ranger is (i know it doesn't makeboost at idle.... but neither does a super charger) a supercharger just builds boost right away instead of spooling.

really the only thing different from his to mine is that he has mass air flow and i do not. which i don't know if that helps me or not.

any info isvery appreciated. thanks

edit: the reason for thinking of this is this is the way a paxton would be hooked up.

I don't really understand forced induction that well, so this is just a guess.

It seems that he has the throttle body in its stock location, based on the pictures. By the description under the pictures, it seems as if he has a second throttle body before the supercharger maybe to control the airflow into the pump.

I would think this could also trick the computer into thinking the truck is still n/a if the throttles work in tandem and the sensor crap is hooked up before the supercharger.

Again, I don't know that much about this kind of thing... but I thought I would take a swing at it.

ok thanks. i think i'm gonna hook it up with the throttle body in the stock location with the air filter on the inlet to the supercharger. anyone disagree?? if it don't work i'll try something else. trial and error. i'll keep ya posted.....

You better get a wideband a/f gauge. Your trial and error could end up being chewed up pistons if you run too much air.

With a positive displacement blower, I believe you need the throttle body before the blower.

whats the difference between a positive displacement and what ever the other option is? negative displacement? i definably am get a a/f gauge but i don't know if it will be a wideband

If you run the throttle body after the blower you will need a decent blow off valve or you will run the risk of ingesting the butterfly, you will also have an issue finding a reliable tap off for your brake booster.

Positive displacement means it moves air any time it's spinning, air moved is directly proportional to RPM. Centrifugal blowers and turbos need to be spinning much faster and the air that's being moved is not directly proportional to RPM. With the throttle before the blower, you limit how much air it can ingest and subsequently how much air it's forcing into the engine. If the throttle is after the blower, it's trying to make max boost and when the throttle isn't WOT, that boost has nowhere to go. I suppose you could make it work with a large, properly adjusted BOV that vents the extra air to atmosphere under light throttle but then you're just complicating things even further.

Don't waste money on a narrowband, they're next to useless.

alrighty that answers my throttle body question. thanks a lot. if narrow bands are junk what wide band is decent priced and works good?

Aem uego. (Stupid forum doesn't allow all caps, you're creating more problems than solutions, whoever thought that was a good idea.)

AEM or Innovative Engineering LC-1 is also really good. I have the LC-1.
