So i blew the 2.3l on my 91 Ranger, and because i needed somethin quick, i picked up a 2.3l from a 1993 Ranger. I assumed that the motors would be similar, which they are, except for the alternator. The 91 Ranger has 4 wires running to the alternator, where the 93 Ranger alternator has 5 wires. I've checked out both wiring diagrams, and am unsure on how to hook up the new alternator. Any ideas/suggestions.

put the alt from the 91 on the 93 motor and plug it in?

X2 ^^

The old bracket should just bolt right on if you can't get the old alt to fit in the new mount bracket...

looking at the motors, the old alternator is at the 2 oclock position, and with the new motor, the alternator is in the 10 oclock position. the alternators and brackets dont look interchangeable

it dosen't matter where it's located, as long as you can bolt the old alt up to the new bracket you're golden. besides that you could try getting a wiring harness for the 93 alternator at a junk yard and try to figure it out.

the brackets on both alternators arent interchangeable, so i cant just switch the old with the new...

Hmmmm...never seen an alternator on a Ranger at 10 O'clock...that would put it on the passenger side...maybe on a newer Ranger or on a 2.5...but I think I've seen both and they don't appear to be reversed like that...
