Just some background info.Im a long time Ford man Ive put Ford engines in everything from Amc Eagles to Jeeps but have never messed with a 2.3.
I am in the process of building a Suzuki samurai. The engine thats stock is a 1.3 NA and about 80 Hp. I want to install a 2.3 engine but want to keep it carbarated and NO computers for the ignition. What motor should i be looking for. Can a carb intake manifild bolt unto a fuel injected block ? How about a ignition system for it ? I like the keep it simple rule. I know alot of guys are gonna say turbo but dont want to go that route. I only need about 125HP for what Im using it for. Thanks for any help

racer walsh makes an adapter to put a holley 2barrel on a fuel injected lower intake you just need the lower and to weld up the injector holes.
and with the holley 350 2 barrel it has center hung floats so it will work good for wheeling.
then throw a small cam (260 degree) in it with a header and you should be around your horsepower goal.

easiest way to plug injector holes are sofplugs, your local Napa should have a good selection or at least be able to get you the size needed, that's what we do at work on our industrial engines that aren't injected.

how do they seal up?
and do they ever blow off in the event of a backfire?
I am not trying to raise another contraversy I am trying to learn.

they're small versions of freeze plugs that you have to drive into place with a punch or something, we put a little of the green loctite (sleeve retainer) on before driving them in place. it'd take a lot to pop one out

you also need to take notice of which head and intake you use... a 8 plug head cant use the earlier 4 plug efi intake.... so if you use a 8 plug head you need a 8 plug intake or make it custom....

Someone I know put a Ford straight six into a Zuki...somehow...and made it work...I think he mentioned serious chopping of the firewall or something of that nature...

I'd go with the 2.3...but you won't get much more HP out of one than the 80 of the stock engine unless you do some mods...not sure about making it work with existing drive train, but, as they say, with enough desire and plenty of $$$ we can do anything we want...
