I have been looking into doing a 4.0 swap on my 95 ranger for a while and i was wondering how hard is this actually. I have never swapped a motor but i am familiar with the mechanical part of cars. I am not to good with the electrical side though. I just haven't worked with wiring much yet.
So if you were to rate this swap what would you rate it?
I have a few questions about the swap too:
1) When i get the engine, trans, and wiring from the donor truck can i tear out the whole engine harness and ECU and replace it with the V6 harness and ECU.
2) I have a 5-speed and would like to keep that will the shifter come through the floor at the same spot or will some metal fabrication be needed.
3) The best engine for the swap would be one from a 95-97 because it would be from the same gen. but could i get a newer engine that would work?
Thats it for now... any advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks -DJ
