Ranger 2.3's were a step ahead of Mustang 2.3's, probably to test things out first... If it's for your '87 in your signature, I think '86-90 is a bolt in or pretty close, as long as it has a distributor and fuel injection you can make it work pretty easy. If no distributor you'd need to use your cylinder head to keep the distributor, or do some more work to get the DIS working...
