i have a 92' ford ranger with a 2.3 in it. i dont know much about these 4cylinders and i was wonderin what kind of things can you do to it to give a little more power?
Long tube header from Racer Walsh, deck the head for higher compression, port/polish + big valves, etc ...
Probably not anything that would be worth the money ultimately. You'll probably have to settle with a simple tune up and be happy with the reliable tractor engine that it is.
If you go to the tech section you will find websites that have very good info and LOTS of performance parts. There are more parts available than any other RBV engine. It is possible to make more power with this engine than any other RBV engine. It all depends on how deep your pockets are.
cool thanks for the help. one of my old buddies use to specialize in racing pinto 2.3 but i dont talk to him no more. what about a 302 swap is it worth it?
Well, I'm a big fan of the 2300 ford engine. I've surprized a lot of people with what the engine can do. I've made guys with v-8s mad at me because I beat them with a 4cyl.
I love my 3.0 v-6s. I drive them more than anything else.
But, If I could own only one vehicle it would be a v-8 Ranger. Nothing beats the sound of a well tuned v-8 and the feel of big torque numbers is pure magic.
