It can be done without a scanner when the light works, it will blink. But an EEC IV scanner is really what you need. But alas, no need to buy . . it cane be done with a voltmeter, analog. That's so you can watch the needle swings and count them.

blah... the SES light needs replaced, i'd rather kill two birds with one stone than to get an analog multimeter and only use it for this.

come to think of it, i have plenty of LEDs that could be shoved in there...
