I'm having a hard time finding an exhaust system or headers for my 2wd 93 ranger xlt standard cab short bed 2.3. any help please?

www.lmctruck.com they have a complete cat back exhaust and headers if im not mistaken. i recommend getting the tfx kit. it sounds better than the resonator tips. www.jegs.com also has exhausts for the 2.3 and headers too. hope this helps,

i couldnt find much on those sites

For headers, look into JBA or Pacesetter headers, ive heard those r pretty good. For exhaust, i would use a 2 1/4 inch headpipe leading into a dynomax thrush muffler, with 2 inch pipe coming out of the muffler, then if u wanted atip, get like 2 1/2 inch to 3 inch tip, the tips don't really matter though. Also, you don't wanna go much bigger than 2 1/4 inch pipe on a 2.3 L 4 banger, if u go any bigger, you could lose sum precious torque and horsepower. Im just sayin that from experience with my buddy's chevy s-10, he put on like 3 inch pipes, and he actually ended up losing alot of horsepower and torque, and his gas mileage went to shit as well. Just warnin, Good Luck man!

I picked up a magnaflow cat and a dynamax cat-back for my '96 2.3 from Summit Racing. They've got pretty good prices.

The exhaust isn't overly loud, but it's a bit throatier

But whatever u do, don't put any Cherrybomb Glasspack shit on ur 2.3 L. Lol, its gonna sound like straight up rice. All the Honda's are gonna wanna race you at stoplights and stuff like that, get a chambered muffler, but honestly its ur choice, u go ahead and do wat u wanna do. Lol

If i were you, i would buy a header, then of course either leave the stock cat or get an aftermarket one, and run some 2-1/4 pipe, with a muffler of your choice, most of the guys on here are right, a cherry bomb or any non-chambered muffler is going to sound ricey on a 2.3, but if you like the sound then put on whatever you like, my 97 2.3 has a import performance muffler with a 4 inch outlet, and personally, i think it sounds decent....at idel, but it screams at WOT

You'll also want to keep the exhaust piping the same diameter for the whole system. At least don't go smaller, anyhow. For example, If you're using 2 1/4" pipe, go 2 1/4" in and out, don't do something like 2 1/4 in/2" out as it will create a "bottleneck" of sorts and hurt performance. You can also open it up a little, like using 2 1/4 in/2 1/2" out but (as stated previously) going too big will hurt performance

2.3's came with headers from the factory if I'm not mistaken, so you might save yourself some money by running one of those from the scrapyard instead of shelling out dough for an aftermarket one. I hear they flow very well. You could always run a factory header w/ a magnaflow or random tech high flow cat (or your stock cat if it's in good shape still) and just straight pipe it after that. You could get an exhaust made like that for $50 probably.
