hey guys i need your help. i did an engine swap in my 04 and put a new 2.3 in it. ii have an automatic and the engine i got was from a standard. i used the wire harness, and intake from my automatic cuz they were a little different. i got the truck running and moving yesterday but it runs very rough and backfires sometimes. i changed the plugs and it made a huge difference but it still backfires a little and doesnt run smooth. it seems to get worse the more i drive it. i know its not a vacuum leak. could it be the wires or the coil? :icon_confused:any help would be appreciated. thanks

come on 14 people looked at this and no one has anything to add????no help from anyone?

It's a VERY vague question you asked. You stated it was a new engine that came out of a truck with a manual tranny......it can't be new then. When you pickup something at a junkyard it could be any number of things wrong with it.
The info you included is insufficient for even a guess. See what codes it is pulling.

well it seems pretty clear to me....could it be the wires or coil?....is the question i asked, seems straight forward. it came outa a running truck and i said it is running rough and backfires. how much more info is there to add if thats what its doing. it has no power when i stomp on it. thanks for your input

Other than checking the coil packs, I'd have to ask if the engines swapped were from the same year. If they weren't and bearing in mind that manual and autos use different cpus, do you need to swap the computers?
