Are the transmissions same for the 2.3 and the 3.0 as far as the M50?

I can get a 3.0 ranger for free that is wrecked, but I want to know if it would be worth my time swapping the motors.
I would like to upgrade the 2.3 but I just rebuilt the M50 in my ranger.
