I found a holy grail piece for me today- A 2.3 Lima 4WD M5OD with a manual transfer case, 40 minutes from my house, for 80 bucks. This is a big step towards my long term plan of building the world's first 4WD 2.3 extracab ranger. Seems like it sat outside for a while but I figure even if i need to rebuild it it beats my original plan of cobbling together a 2.3 4WD transmission from a 2.3 2WD and a 3.0 4WD. Overall, Im stoked.

Sweet! Good find, I would have grabbed that too if I saw it! Even with the 1350 T case it's a reasonable start with the linkages and such

That 1350 shifter will work on a 1354 if you take the bends out of it and cut the slot deeper. A vice makes taking the bends out easy, but it could be done with a hammer and a flat surface. A 4.5in angle grinder is perfect for cutting the slot deeper.

Whats the issue with just running the 1350?

None outside the different driveshaft. Most here prefer the 1354 style shaft with the slip in the middle rather than at the transfer case.
