2.3 - 3.0 bellhousing bolt pattern?

Are the bell housing bolt patterns the same between an 87 ranger 2.3 and a 94 ranger 3.0? Assuming they both use a A4LD. Found a 94 3.0 that needs a trans and I have a trans out of my 87 2.3 that worked when i pulled it. Is it possible to swap the bellhousing from the 3.0 to the 2.3 trans if the bellhousing patterns are differnt?

The 3.0L engine has the starter mounted on the drivers side. The 2.3L engine has the starter mounted on the passenger side. However the bellhousing does indeed swap between A4LDs.

No, no they are not the same. Not close. The 3.0 does not now, never has, nor ever will share a bell pattern with any other Ranger engine.

We answer this same question three or four times a month.

Like Ron said, the bells will swap, but there will be other issues. An early A4LD like that won't be 100% plug and play to a later year.
