I have a 2.0L I wanted to switch to a 2.3L or 2.9L will my 5 spd from my 2.0L fit either of these motors?

you'er 5 sp will fit the 2.3,but not the 2.9,totally different bolt pattern

Yeah, the 2.3 and 2.0 are the same motors (almost)...if you're looking for a bit more bang then a 2.3 will give you that...and you can keep the carb setup if you don't want to change everything over...

You may want to change the carb from the original to something better though...unless you like vacuum lines, that is...

Mark, as for a carb set up what would you recommend, and to do this all with out an adapter I need to change the heads correct?

There are a few options available, but it's actually unlimited if you can mod things or have enough money to buy or have adapters made up...

One of the most recommended carbs is the Holley 350 on an 86 FI intake (needs an adapter)...

Mine is a Motorcraft 5200 (good carb, but I want to change to the above option some day)...and it is on a 78 Mustang II Offy type (Offenhauser) intake that was, apparently, stock on this model of Mustang...

The Offy type intake is actually pretty good and if my eyeballing of the Holley 350 carb is correct it should be pretty much a direct bolt on...that's only my impression from seeing pics as I haven't actually had the 350 carb in my hands...

You can view a pic of the intakes on the Esslinger Engineering site here http://www.esslingeracing.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=MAN
