I have a 1985 ford ranger with a 2.0l 4 cylinder engine, not a 2.3l, I cannot find much info on these engines. Were they uncommon? Were they considered good or bad?

I'd say it's possible. If you took those things off, you couldn't tell one from the other at a glance.I suspect it was a 2.0 that got the 2.3 intake, exhaust, and accessories
