I was involved in a 3 car accident the other day where a driver ran a red light and caused the accident. Been dealing with her insurance since I didn’t have collision on my truck. I’m pretty sure there going to total my truck and I’m gonna get screwed on the value. Even though it’s impossible to find a running and driving 4x4 truck no matter the age for less than like $5k around here.
What are my options? Has anyone ever had to deal with something like that here? Kept this truck on the road for 21 years and it was my father’s truck before that, just put quite a bit of money into it in the past 3 years.

Up here I can buy back the vehicle for pennies on the dollar. But it is then a "salvage" vehicle. Depending on the damage that's probably what I would do.

Yeah, that, you just need some cosmetics up front, if you're handy you can do the bulk of the labor and save that part and if not up to it have a body shop work on the paint matching...

My buddy went through that a couple times on his 4 runner, was stolen once then he hit a cow, was totalled both times and had to argue at least once by finding comparable vehicles for sale as they were saying it was worth 1/3 of market value... They'll start low but can go up if you try hard enough.

If it was me, I would try to get them pay the most I could get without them totaling the truck and keep the truck.

Yes I'm sure you're not going to get what the truck is worth.
And your most likely not going to get enough money to fix it.

However if you allow them to Total the truck out and buy it back at the scrap price you'll have to do a lot of work to get it retitled as a salvage title.
And once you have a salvage title the value of the truck drops significantly.

And with that drop in value a lot of insurance companies will not even give you liability insurance on a salvage vehicle title.

I'm just a novice around here I don't know everything but this is my two cents and what I can contribute to your situation.
I wish you luck and hope things work out for you.
