So after doing some reading, I found that I don't have a VSS on the 1999 I have so from what I read, there is only a couple ways to get an accurate read of my speedometer after adding 4.10's and 35" tires, and that is either to have the computer reflashed (can ONLY a ford dealership do this, or is it possible to do elsewhere?), OR get the superlift speedo calibration box...

Are there any other options or ways to do this myself? I was able to reprogram my PSOM on my 1995 Ford Bronco, and am surprised the Ranger didn't have the VSS and similar method of reprogramming...

Thanks for the help!

PS, thought I might add a picture of the new Ranger now that it's up and running!

So I take it from the silence the calibration box is the only usable method on this year/model?

98~2000 Rangers do not have the speedometer scaling in the PCM like 2001+ do. For RABS trucks, it is in the GEM; for trucks w/4WABS , it is in the 4WABS Module. Either system requires a dealer-level tool for access and adjustment in the appropriate module.

If you want to do it yourself, you are stuck with something like an aftermarket inline calibration box.

Thanks man! Can't wait 'til I get stuff together and can start thinking about a solid D44 up front and a 5.0... Should be a great project... Looks like I'll be going for the speedo calibration box from superlift then.

I bet that tiny ole 3.0 sure loves those tires?

35's and 4.10's + 3.0 V6 = Joke :) I have 4.10's and 35's on my bronco, but I'm rockin' a 351W in that beast :) That's why I am looking forward to moving towards that 5.0 :)
