1999 Ranger XLT 4.0 l Auto. My truck seems to be stuck in 4 wheel drive and will not disengage . The 4 wheel hi and low indicator lights on the dash flash about 5 times every couple of minutes. I have disconnected the battery to no avail. I checked the PMC fuses and relays. Anyone have a clue as to the problem. Also would switching to manual hubs fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Mine did that so I pulled the shift motor out and shifted it by hand. There's a company that makes a turn knob shifter for it but I can't think of the name. You have to get under the truck to shift it. You can unplug the 4wd module to get rid of the blinking lights.
