Hey guys, last post cause im making my final decision. Im getting a 3 inch Performance Accessories lift on my 1999 ford ranger rearwheel drive, 4-cylinder, 2.5 liter. regular cab. I just need new tires to go with the lift, and ive seen so many mixed opinions about tire sizes, i just need one final opinion. What size tire will fit well with the 3 inch PA body lift. and i will still be able to run the car. 32's 31's? 30's? I have 26's on it now but does 5 inches of tire really make that much of a difference?

Thanks, michael:yahoo:

Ohhh yeah it does! I went from a 25 in tire to a 30 in on my 2wd reg cab. Now it takes a little more clutch to get going, and I can only use 5th if I'm going 80 with the wind at my back. so 31s are gonna change it just a tad more than my 30's. also, it depends on what gears you have. I had the 3.45's to start with. Realistically, you can run 31's with 3.45's or 3.73's. But you might seriously consider regearing to at least 4.10's. Gearing to 4.56's would be better because it leaves you room to opt for bigger tires in the future. Becuase of the tire change on mine, I'm going to swap out my axle for an explorer 8.8 ls with 4.10s.

Also, Your speedometer wil probablyl be at least 10 percent off. There is a speed after tire change calculater in the tech library

Dang, alright well i have no clue what my gears are and how to find out what they are and also mines an automatic. Do you think 30's will fit the wheel well nice with that lift?

My friend has a 4 cyl. auto with 4.10s and 29 in. tires. On fairly flat ground the auto hunts between 3rd and OD at about 60-65MPH and finally stays in OD at about 70MPH. He is thinking 4.56s befor changing to 30s on the rear. I hope this helps. BTW if you look in the tech section you will find how to check what rear gears you have.

Well since you have an auto you definately need to regear to 4.56's. 30's look small on my truck with no lift so I would go at least 31's, maybe even 32's or 33's with a 3in bl.
