I have a 1999 ford ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 5spd that I bought from a buddy that was having some problems with it. when you crank it up if it has sat for longer than a hour (the longer and colder the worse) it spits and sputters real bad when you first crank it up for about 3-10 seconds, i mean almost cutting off. then it will idle up to about 2000-2500 rpms for about 10 seconds that back to spitin and spurtin... then when im going down the road and i press in the clutch to shift, the rpms stay exactly where they where at, as long as its above 1500 rpm. the rpms will stay there fr about 10-40 seconds before idling down to normal... if i leave the truck in gear and let it get down to about 1000 rpms before i press the clutch then it jumps to 1500 for about 10-15 seconds before idling down. once i get going it runs fine until i press in the clutch.. no issues while my foots in the gas though
to my knowlege the idle air control valve, and fuel filter have been replaced. i heard that it could have a leak on the exhaust side so i put some blue devil in but have not seen a difference at all. im sure more has been replaced but thats all i can think of off the top of my head
im honestly kinda lost. any ideas would be appreciated thanks yall.
