I have a 1998 ranger 4x4 i need to new about the manual hubs conversion. I just bought new manual hubs I need to know if you still need the vacuum to the hubs. Can you just kap it off at the solenoid ?

Disclaimer:What I am about to say is going to come off as rude. I assure you it is meant to encourage critical thinking skills, not hurt squishy feelings that I have recently learned other people have, but I do not.

You are going to replace your vacuum powered automatic locking hubs with manual locking hubs. Do you think you will need vacuum to manually lock your hubs?

I know that the manuel make it so you dont need vac to engage it but I was told that it holds it on ??? I just want to know if thats true. & I did not get offended thank you...

lol, no, the vacuum is not needed for anything. Cap the lines off, yank 'em out, do a burnout on 'em, throw 'em in the fire pit, do whatever you want with them. They will be of absolutely no use afterward. The hubs have keeper tabs to hold them on.

Not even the factory PVH units work that way.

Hello i have a 1998 automatic ford ranger with vacuum hubs. I would like change it over to manual hubs. Im planning on getting avm manual hubs and i was curious is there anything i need to do other than just put the new hubs on since my truck is an automatic.

No. I never capped my Vacuum lines of anything and they worked great.
