Hello, My 1998 ranger 3.0 automatic shut off while driving and will not start. I have fuel pressure and spark. I also HAD the cel illuminated and then turning off when cranking. Although i have noticed that the last time i was testing things i no longer have a cel at any point with key on engine off or while cranking. Also when i hook my scan tool up my scanner shows no response for pcm when at one point in the diag it was responding. Any help would be appreciated. (Im a Chevrolet technician that works on nothing but new vehicles)

Can you confirm power to the PCM? I'd start with fuses under the hood. Although I wouldn't think spark would be possible without the PCM. Especially since I think EDIS was integrated around the same time OBD2 became a thing.

I will have to find the schematics monday for the pcm power and ground distribution. But, I have checked all of the fuses and they are okay.
