ok thanks for reading this post
i have an 1998 mazda b4000[ranger re-badged]
of it seems to thing its a harley it likes riding on tow trucks
it loses spark and the fuel pump will not run the check engine light fails to light..
if you let it sit the check engine light comes on then it will run some times for days some times for just a few miles with no warning it shuts off their is no alarm system factory or otherwise we have changed out the pcm and it acts the same way with both of them unhooking the battery don't help when it fails to run you can not read the codes then when it heals itself the check engine light works and you can read the computer {no codes stored }
replaced all the relays, cam senser, i have been looking for the pcm pin out so i can compare the running state to the doa state i am at whits end with this truck . it runs like a new truck when it runs but you can not trust it to take it anywhere...thanks party...

Could be a bad ground. Also look in your under hood relay, fuse box. Pull the relays one at a time and see if you see any damage or burnt spots where the relays plug in.

yep did that even flipped the distro over and checked for output at the relay.
opened up all the plugs and cleaned them and added noox to them too tried wiggleing the wiring while it was running and no change i am looking for the pin out to the pcm for this model so i can look it over to see what i could be missing but can not track it down 1998 b400 5 speed 4.0 but the b4400 should tell ya its an 4.0.. no remote locks or start :icon_bounceblue:

Sounds like the crank sensor is cutting out.

if the crank sensor was the issue the check engine light would light and i would not lose power to the integral safety switch..
its got to be deeper than that .. as i stated before you can be driving at 70 mph and the motor shuts down . no check engine light[ never comes on when it quits }
.. not able to read codes no power to the integral relay.. then the check engine light pops on and she starts and runs like nothing ever happened.. if you see the check engine light she runs .. no check engine light no run...

Can't Relate.......... None of my Harleys have ever been on a tow truck...:icon_rofl: Sorry, I just couldn't help it...

no spark and no fuel or check engine light help!! pcm

ok to finish the story . the truck is up and running i found two issues that should be checked on all of the rangers of this era 98 ish .. on the drivers side frame rail just above the fuel filter there are two wiring harnesses on of them rubs on the truck until the wires are rubbed threw shorting out the fuel system and turning off the pcm.. than just above the fuel tank the wiring harness is also rubbing on the truck rubbing threw the wiring too so if spark and fuel system are both failing and no check engine light with the key turned on these need to be checked .. if you just unplug the harnesses above the fuel filter the check engine light will light and you will engine spark back too, then repair the wiring!!!,:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:
