So, my 1995 Ranger, Reg cab, 2WD, 4 banger, has like the worst turning radius of any vehicle I have ever owned. I have to do a 2 point turn just to park in most stalls.

Is this normal or is there a specific problem I should be looking for? I had it aligned with no problems...

Have you checked for anything binding with the steering linkage?

How many turns does the wheel have all the way from lock-to-lock? (should be almost exactly 4 turns).

Haven't had a good look at the steering while moving... I'll have to get the wife to crank the wheel while I'm looking at it I guess. I went out tonight and can only get 3 rotations lock to lock before the power steering pump whines.

Anything more likely to bind?

It's not a truck... it's a car with a box... I can park an F150 without the 2 point turn and it's twice the size... why can't I do that with my ranger?

I can swing my 91 ext cab w/36" tires into any parking spot I point it at in one shot...

Maybe some one has adjusted your steering stops out?

I'll have to crawl under there tomorrow and have a good long look at everything. It's starting to piss me off... I gotta drive this truck 120kms every day to work, so I need it to not piss me off...

Guess I'll see what I find in the morning.

i had a 92 4 banger 2wd with same problom i took it in and they said it was my tie rods and ball joints ? dont make sense to me but a few bucks later and it was good again.

Has anyone toyed with the idea of having a custom longer pitman arm machined...?

The street and drifting guys would probably eat that up...

Just a thought.
